Pack – 1999 Upper Deck MVP

Beckett Set Notes (from box page)

“This 220 card set was distributed in 10 cards packs with an SRP of $1.59 per pack. Cards numbered from 218 through 220 are checklist subsets. Approximately 350 Mike Schmidt A Piece of History 500 Home Run Game-Used bat cards were distributed in this product. In addition, 20 hand serial numbered versions of this card personally signed by Schmidt himself were also randomly seeded into packs. Pricing for these bat cards can be referenced under 1999 Upper Deck A Piece of History 500 Club. A Ken Griffey Jr. Sample card was distributed to dealers and hobby media several weeks prior to the product’s national release. Unlike most Upper Deck promotional cards, this card does not have the word “SAMPLE” pasted across the back of the card. The card, however, is numbered “S3″. It’s believed that cards S1 and S2 were Upper Deck MVP football and basketball promo cards.”

Comments

This is a premium product for 1999. I think it holds up pretty well, but the design is a bit busy for my tastes. It has extra lines, dots, lettering, partial borders – you name it. Getting the 1:6 insert (Swing Time) was a plus. The front of the card is pretty dark so it doesn’t scan well.
